Field studies consistently show double-digit gains in speed and quality for well-scaffolded tasks. The important caveat: agents amplify process.   5. Bio-synthetic Hybrids (3–8+ years): Organoid-assisted co-processors and neuromorphic companions ease the energy wall; generality emerges from diverse substrates.

AGI won’t be a single model. It will be a composite capability that coheres when these layers interlock.

8. Labor, RPE, and the New Productivity Frontier

The unit of work is shifting from a person to a person-plus-agents. Expect three macro effects:

  • Compression of cycle time: Drafting, analysis, code, tests, docs, deploy—done in parallel by agent swarms with human arbitration.

  • Productivity: assistants shift from autocomplete to autonomous execution with human sign-off. Your document isn’t a file; it’s a live plan with agents attached.
  • Consumer platforms: privacy-first on-device models with secure cloud bursts for heavy reasoning become the default UX contract.
  • Creative tools: the pipeline—brief → storyboard → assets → edit → QA—turns into a scriptable agent workflow. Creative direction becomes prompt-engineering plus taste.

Rule of thumb: every product becomes a conversation, every conversation becomes a workflow, and every workflow becomes a team of agents with an SLA.

10. The Edge Cases That Decide Everything

  • Energy realism: grids, water, and siting will be rate-limiters. Efficiency isn’t nice-to-have; it’s the growth budget.
  • Policy legitimacy: copy the driverless playbook—small ODDs, transparent telemetry, stepwise expansion. Ship, measure, expand.
